अमिततेजस्वी कुन्तीपुत्र भीमसेनके द्वारा अपनी सेनाको भगायी गयी देख अधिरथ और राधाके पुत्र कर्णने युद्धमें कौन-सा पराक्रम किया? मेरे पुत्रों अथवा महारथी दुर्धर्ष नरेशोंने क्या किया? संजय! यह सब वृत्तान्त मुझे बताओ; क्योंकि तुम कथा कहनेमें कुशल हो ।। संजय उवाच अपराह्ने महाराज सूतपुत्र: प्रतापवान् । जघान सोमकान् सर्वान् भीमसेनस्य पश्यत:,संजय बोला--महाराज! प्रतापी सूतपुत्रने अपराह्न-कालमें भीमसेनके देखते-देखते समस्त सोमकोंका संहार कर डाला
sañjaya uvāca aparāhṇe mahārāja sūtaputraḥ pratāpavān | jaghāna somakān sarvān bhīmasenasya paśyataḥ ||
Sañjaya said: O King, in the late afternoon the valiant son of the charioteer—Karna—slew all the Somakas, even as Bhimasena looked on.
