Shloka 33
देवैरपि हि संयत्तैर्ि भ्रद्धिर्मासशोणितम् । अशक्य: स रथो जेतुं सर्वैरपि युयुत्सभि:,प्रयाहि शीघ्र॑ गोविन्द सूतपुत्रजिघांसया । “गोविन्द! अब मेरा रथ तैयार हो। उसमें पुनः उत्तम घोड़े जोते जायँ और मेरे उस विशाल रथमें सब प्रकारके अस्त्र-शस्त्र सजाकर रख दिये जायाँ। अअभ्वारोहियोंद्वारा सिखलाये और टहलाये गये घोड़े रथसम्बन्धी उपकरणोंसे सुसज्जित हो शीघ्र यहाँ आवें और आप सूतपुत्रके वधकी इच्छासे जल्दी ही यहाँसे प्रस्थान कीजिये” समस्त देवता भी यदि रक्त-मांसयुक्त शरीरको धारण करके युद्धकी अभिलाषा लेकर विजयके लिये प्रयत्नशील हो रणभूमिमें आ जायेँ तो उनके लिये रथसहित कर्णको जीतना असम्भव है
sañjaya uvāca |
prāyāhi śīghraṁ govinda sūtaputra-jighāṁsayā |
“govinda! adya me rathaḥ sajjo bhavatu; tasmin punaḥ śreṣṭhā aśvā yujyantām; mama mahati rathe sarva-prakārāṇy astrāṇi śastrāṇi ca saṁnidhīyatām | aśvārūḍhair vinītāḥ paricālitāś ca aśvā ratha-sambandhi-upakaraṇaiḥ susajjāḥ śīghram ihāgacchantu; tvaṁ ca sūtaputrasya vadhecchayā kṣipram ito niṣkrama” iti |
devair api hi saṁyattair māṁsa-śoṇita-dhāriṇām |
aśakyaḥ sa ratho jetuṁ sarvair api yuyutsubhiḥ ||
Sanjaya said: “Go quickly, Govinda, intent on slaying the charioteer’s son. ‘Govinda, let my chariot be made ready at once. Yoke again the finest horses; in my great chariot arrange every kind of weapon and missile. Let the horses—trained and exercised by skilled riders—come here immediately, fully equipped with all chariot-gear; and you, with the resolve to kill the charioteer’s son, depart from here without delay.’ For even if the gods themselves—armed and eager for battle, bearing bodies of flesh and blood—were to come to the field striving for victory, it would be impossible for them, though all were desirous of fighting, to conquer Karna together with his chariot.
