कर्णेन युधिष्ठिरानीकविदारणम् / Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line
महेश्वर उवाच गच्छ त्वं मदनुज्ञातो निहनिष्यसि शात्रवान्
maheśvara uvāca gaccha tvaṃ madanujñāto nihaniṣyasi śātravān
Maheśvara said: “Go forth—you have my permission. You will strike down the hostile foes.”
महेश्वर उवाच
The verse emphasizes that action—especially violent action in war—should be undertaken under rightful authorization and directed against genuine aggressors. It reflects the Mahābhārata’s concern with aligning force with dharma: permission (anujñā) and proper target (śātravāḥ) matter ethically.
Maheśvara (Śiva) addresses a recipient (implied by context) and grants leave to proceed, assuring success against enemies. The line functions as a divine endorsement that strengthens resolve and legitimizes the coming combat.
