कर्णेन युधिष्ठिरानीकविदारणम् / Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line
ततो देवगणा: सर्वे सिद्धाश्ष परमर्षय:
tato devagaṇāḥ sarve siddhāś ca paramarṣayaḥ
Then all the hosts of gods, along with the Siddhas and the supreme seers, gathered/appeared—marking a moment when the cosmic order itself bore witness to the unfolding events and their moral weight.
पितामह उवाच
The verse signals that actions in the great war are not merely human affairs: divine and perfected beings are portrayed as witnesses, implying that dharma and adharma have cosmic significance and that moral causality extends beyond immediate battlefield outcomes.
A celestial assembly is introduced: the gods, Siddhas, and great seers appear/are present, typically to observe, approve, lament, or pronounce on the extraordinary events about to occur or just occurring in the battle narrative.
