Karṇa’s advance against the Pāṇḍava host; Arjuna’s clash with the Saṃśaptakas
ākrāmya tasthur ūcuś ca kaś ca nāma prajāpatiḥ | cāṇḍīkā-baddhaṃ puraṃ kamalākṣake ca lohakaṃ vidyunmālike adhikāre āsīt | te trayo daityarājāḥ svāstratejasā trīn lokān abhibhūya tiṣṭhanti sma, ūcuś ca—“prajāpatiḥ kaḥ?”
Having overrun their foes, they stood firm and spoke with arrogant contempt: “And who, indeed, is this Prajāpati?” The three cities—one fashioned of silver, another radiant like a lotus, and a third of iron—were held under the dominion of Kamalākṣa and Vidyunmālī. Those three demon-kings, intoxicated by the splendor of their weapons, kept the three worlds pressed down beneath their power and repeatedly proclaimed, “Who is Prajāpati?”
