Sukta 2
उभावन्तौ समर्षसि वत्सः संमातराविव । नन्वे३तदितः पुरा ब्रह्म देवा अमी विदुः
ubhā́vantau sám arṣasi vatsáḥ sámmā́tarāv iva | nánv etád itáḥ purā́ bráhma devā́ amī́ viduḥ ||
To both the helping ones thou runnest together, like a calf unto its two mothers. Surely this sacred lore from hence of old those very Gods have known.
Rishi: As per AV 13 solar hymn tradition; r̥ṣi varies by anukramaṇī.
Devata: Sūrya in relation to Dyāvā-Pṛthivī (the ‘two mothers’).
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh.
