Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 11

वेदैरधीतैर्यत्पुण्यं पुराणैश्चावगाहितैः । तपोभिश्चरितैः पुण्यं सम्यगाश्रम पालनैः

vedairadhītairyatpuṇyaṃ purāṇaiścāvagāhitaiḥ | tapobhiścaritaiḥ puṇyaṃ samyagāśrama pālanaiḥ

(Dieses Verdienst) gleicht dem Verdienst, das man durch das Studium der Veden, durch tiefes Eindringen in die Purāṇas, durch Tapas (Askese) und durch rechtes Bewahren der Pflichten des eigenen Āśrama (Lebensstandes) erlangt.
