दुन्दुभिनिर्ह्रादनिर्णयः / Dundubhinirhrāda’s Stratagem: Targeting the Brāhmaṇas
महेश्वर उवाच । यो मामनेन रूपेण द्रक्ष्यति श्रद्धयात्र वै । तस्योपसर्गसंधानं पातयिष्याम्यसंशयम्
maheśvara uvāca | yo māmanena rūpeṇa drakṣyati śraddhayātra vai | tasyopasargasaṃdhānaṃ pātayiṣyāmyasaṃśayam
大自在天(摩诃湿伐罗)说道:“凡于此处以至诚信心观见我此等形相者,我必无疑为其摧破并灭除诸苦恼与障碍之侵袭。”
Lord Shiva (Maheśvara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Significance: Darśana of Śiva ‘in this very form’ (anena rūpeṇa) with śraddhā is presented as a direct means for obstacle-removal (upasarga-nāśa), i.e., protective grace.
The verse teaches that sincere, faith-filled darśana of Śiva’s manifest (saguṇa) form invites His anugraha (grace), by which obstacles and afflictions are subdued, supporting the devotee’s dharma and progress toward liberation.
It affirms the efficacy of saguṇa-upāsanā—approaching Śiva through a perceivable form (including the Liṅga as His sacred manifest symbol). Faithful beholding and reverent attention are presented as direct means for receiving Śiva’s protective grace.
Practice devotional darśana with śraddhā—regularly behold Śiva (Liṅga or revered form), offer simple worship, and accompany it with japa of Śiva’s name (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) seeking removal of upasargas (obstacles).
