The “mahānāda” symbolizes irresistible divine śakti expressed as nāda—power that humbles both celestial pride and demonic arrogance, teaching that all beings stand equal before Rudra-tattva and that ego is shattered by the Lord’s presence.
In Saguna worship, Shiva’s manifest power is contemplated through forms and acts—here, the overwhelming roar reflects the Lord’s protective and transformative might. The Linga signifies the same supreme reality whose power subdues adharma and steadies the devotee in bhakti.
Meditate on sacred sound (nāda) through japa of the Panchākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and cultivate inner fearlessness; as a supportive Shaiva practice, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and perform steady mantra-recitation to dissolve tamas and ahaṅkāra.
