नारदमोहवर्णनम् — Description of Nārada’s Delusion
सूत उवाच । इत्याकर्ण्य तयोर्वाक्यं नारदो विस्मितोऽभवत् । मुखं ददर्श मुकुरे शिवमायाविमोहितः
sūta uvāca | ityākarṇya tayorvākyaṃ nārado vismito'bhavat | mukhaṃ dadarśa mukure śivamāyāvimohitaḥ
苏多说道:听了那二者之言,那罗陀大为惊异。被湿婆的幻力(māyā)所迷,他照向明镜,看见了自己的面容。

The verse highlights Śiva as Pati (the Lord) whose māyā can veil even a great sage’s discernment; liberation arises when the jīva recognizes this limitation and turns toward Śiva’s grace and right knowledge.
By showing the power of Śiva-māyā, the text implies the need for steady Saguna upāsanā—such as Linga worship—so the mind becomes purified and capable of seeing beyond appearance toward Śiva’s reality.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with bhakti and self-inquiry, using worship (pūjā, bhasma/tripuṇḍra, rudrākṣa) to stabilize the mind against delusion.
