क्रत्वा दक्षस्य तरुषो विधर्मणि देवासो अग्निं जनयन्त चित्तिभिः । रुरुचानं भानुना ज्योतिषा महामत्यं न वाजं सनिष्यन्नुप ब्रुवे ॥

kratvā́ dákṣasya tárūṣo vídharmaṇi devā́so agníṁ janayanta cítti-bhiḥ | rurucānám bhānúnā jyótiṣā mahā́m atyáṁ ná vā́jaṁ saniṣyán úpa bruve ||

以克拉图(kratu,觉意之志)与达克沙(dakṣa,有效之能的巧智),在正当运行之秩序(vi-dharmaṇi)中,诸天以光明的觉知(citti)使阿耆尼(Agni)诞生。我祈唤那以光束与光辉灿然照耀者——伟大如广宇中的竞驰骏马——为求得vāja(胜势、丰饶之力)而向他陈词。
