Sumantra Meets Rama; Rama Departs to See the King
ते राममुपसङ्गम्य भर्तुः प्रियचिकीर्षवः।सहभार्याय रामाय क्षिप्रमेवाभिचक्षिरे।।।।
te rāmam upasaṅgamya bhartuḥ priyacikīrṣavaḥ | sahabhāryāya rāmāya kṣipram evābhicakṣire ||
他们愿行主君所喜之事,便走近与妻子同在的罗摩,立刻向他禀报。
Rama beheld the beautiful highway filled with precious stones and merchandise (for sale), thronged with elephants, horses and chariots, the crossroads crowded with multitude of people.इत्यार्षे श्रीमद्रामायणे वाल्मीकीय आदिकाव्ये अयोध्याकाण्डे षोडशस्सर्गः।।Thus ends the sixteenth sarga of Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma is faithful service (sevā-dharma): subordinates act promptly and with goodwill to support rightful authority.
The guards, eager to serve their king’s interests, approach Rama (who is with Sita) and convey the message about Sumantra’s arrival.
Kṛtajñatā and niṣṭhā (loyal commitment) in attendants who prioritize duty and their master’s welfare.
