Kāmodākhyāna
Glory of the Kāmodā Sacred Place
atha kāmodāmāhātmyam | mohinyuvāca | kāmodāyāstu māhātmyaṃ brūhi me dvijasattama | yacchrutvāhaṃ tava mukhātprasannā syāṃ kṛtārthavat || 1 ||
Mohinī
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It formally opens the Kāmodā tīrtha-māhātmya and frames the teaching as śravaṇa (devout hearing) from an authoritative sage, implying that listening itself yields inner clarity and a sense of spiritual fulfillment.
Bhakti is expressed through humble inquiry and attentive hearing—Mohinī seeks the tīrtha’s glory “from your mouth,” highlighting reverence for sacred narration (kathā/śravaṇa) as a devotional practice.
No specific Vedāṅga is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is the Purāṇic method of dharma-learning—approaching a qualified dvija, asking properly, and receiving instruction through oral transmission.
