Dharmānukathana
Narration of Dharma
tathā ca somaśravaṇe hastayukte bṛhaspatau | budhāṣṭamyāṃ budhāṣāḍhe puṇye cānye dine tathā || 48 ||
Narada (teaching in a dharma/vrata context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
The verse emphasizes that dharmic rites gain greater fruit when performed on specially auspicious combinations of weekday (vāra), lunar day (tithi), and constellation (nakṣatra), aligning human action with sacred cosmic order.
While not defining bhakti directly, it supports devotional practice by prescribing favorable times for worship and vows, helping devotees perform pūjā and vrata with heightened focus and sanctity.
It highlights Jyotiṣa Vedāṅga—using vāra, tithi (Aṣṭamī), nakṣatra (Śravaṇa, Hasta), and the month/season marker (Āṣāḍha) to determine auspicious timing (muhūrta) for rituals.
