Jyotiṣa-śāstra Saṅgraha: Threefold Division, Gaṇita Methods, Muhūrta, and Planetary Reckoning
मुहूर्तोपग्रहाः सूयसंक्रांतिर्गोचरः क्रमात् । चंद्रता राबलं चैव सर्वलग्रार्तवाह्वयः ॥ ९ ॥
muhūrtopagrahāḥ sūyasaṃkrāṃtirgocaraḥ kramāt | caṃdratā rābalaṃ caiva sarvalagrārtavāhvayaḥ || 9 ||
Narada (teaching in a technical-dharma context; dialogue tradition with Sanatkumara line)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It frames righteous action (dharma) as time-sensitive, teaching that sacred rites gain clarity and efficacy when aligned with cosmic order—muhūrta, saṅkrānti, transits, and lunar conditions.
While not directly devotional in tone, it supports bhakti-practice by emphasizing proper timing for vows, worship, and observances so that devotion is performed with attentiveness to dharmic order.
It highlights Jyotiṣa (a Vedāṅga): assessing muhūrta factors, Sun’s ingress, planetary transits, Moon’s condition, Rāhu’s strength, and lagna/seasonal indicators for ritual and decision-making.
