Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: none
It catalogs changing sensory and physical qualities—pleasant/unpleasant, sweet/pungent, oily/dry—implying their impermanence and encouraging dispassion (vairāgya) and inner purification on the mokṣa path.
By highlighting that sensory qualities fluctuate, it supports bhakti as steadiness of mind in remembrance of the Lord beyond taste, smell, and bodily conditions—devotion that is not dependent on pleasurable experiences.
It is not a direct Vedāṅga lesson; rather, it functions as a practical sādhana cue used in Mokṣa-dharma: observe sensory attributes (rasa/gandha) without attachment, aiding discipline, purity (śauca), and meditative stability.
