Brāhmaṇa-pūjā, Haviḥ-dāna, and the Vāsudeva–Pṛthivī Saṃvāda
Chapter 34
abhuktvā devakāryāṇi kurvate ye ’davikatthanāḥ | santuṣṭāś ca kṣamāyuktās tān namasyāmy ahaṃ vibho prabho ||
The verse praises a dharmic character: one who places worship and duty before personal enjoyment (eating), avoids boasting, remains content, and practices forgiveness. These virtues together mark inner discipline and social harmony.
Nārada is speaking in a didactic context, offering a reverential salute to exemplary people and listing the qualities that make them worthy of honor—ritual responsibility, humility, contentment, and forbearance.
