स्थिरलिंगश्न यन्नित्यं तस्मात् स्थाणुरिति स्मृत: । ये ऊर्ध्वभागमें स्थित होकर देहधारियोंके प्राणोंका नाश करते हैं। सदा स्थिर रहते हैं और जिनका लिंग-विग्रह सदा स्थिर रहता है। इसलिये ये 'स्थाणु” कहलाते हैं
sthiraliṅgaś ca yan nityaṁ tasmāt sthāṇur iti smṛtaḥ |
风神(Vāyu)说道:“因为他的圣标(liṅga)恒常不动、坚固安住,所以人们记念他为‘斯塔努(Sthāṇu)’——不动而坚定者。”
वायुदेव उवाच
