The verse identifies the highest reality as the pure and supreme Self—imperishable, the inner Person, the witnessing consciousness, and the knower of the body-field—teaching that liberation culminates in realizing and attaining this Supreme Self as the ultimate goal.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma continues his post-war instruction on dharma and higher wisdom, describing the nature of the Supreme Self to guide the listener toward ethical living grounded in self-knowledge and the pursuit of liberation.
