Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
na hi te 'prāpyam astīha triṣu lokeṣu kiṃcana | lokān sṛjeḥ tvam aparān icchan yadukulodvaha ||
The verse emphasizes the extraordinary, near-cosmic capability of the addressed hero—nothing in the three worlds is beyond his reach, and his will is portrayed as creative and world-forming. Ethically, it frames power as vast potential that should be guided by right intention rather than mere desire.
Vāsudeva addresses a prominent member of the Yadu line, praising his unmatched capacity and suggesting that, if he wished, he could even create additional worlds—an exaltation meant to elevate the listener’s stature and the gravity of the moment.
