Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Inner-fire purification: meditate on the bīja “raṁ” in the heart-lotus, ignite flames to burn impurities, then expand the flames upward/downward/sideways to pervade the whole body up to the crown.","sutra_style":true}
Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Raṁ-bīja Hṛdaya-agni Dhyāna and Sarvāṅga-plāvana","lookup_keywords":["raṁ-bīja","hṛdaya-padma","agni-dhyāna","jvālā","śodhana"],"quick_summary":"Place raṁ in the heart-lotus as inner fire, burn impurities, and spread the flames through all directions within the body until the crown—completing internal purification for mantra-nyāsa and worship."}
Concept: Agni is internalized as consciousness-purifier; bīja-mantra is the ignition point, and pervasion signifies total integration/purification.
Application: Use heart-centered raṁ visualization before nyāsa/japa to cultivate a felt sense of clarity and full-body ritual readiness.

Related Themes: Agni Purana: Agneya-vidyā on bīja-mantras, antar-agni, bhūta-śuddhi, and nyāsa sequences leading into protective rites
It teaches bīja-mantra dhyāna: visualizing the fire seed “raṁ” in the heart-lotus and expanding its flames through the body to burn impurities.
Alongside law, medicine, and warfare, the Agni Purana also preserves practical mantra-yoga methods—here, a precise internal ritual (antar-yāga) using bīja, cakra/lotus imagery, and purificatory visualization.
The practice is framed as inner purification: the “flames” symbolically incinerate impurities (mala) and prepare the practitioner for higher mantra-siddhi and spiritual clarity.
