FAQs

Ayurvedic therapeutics: a topical udvartana (medicated rubbing) using specific plant leaves blended with cow’s urine to treat tvagdoṣa (skin disorders).

It illustrates the Purana’s inclusion of practical medical recipes—herbal pharmacology and external therapies—alongside theology and ritual, demonstrating its broad, compendium-like scope.

By prescribing a purificatory, cleansing regimen (gomūtra and medicinal plants), the text frames bodily purification and health as supportive to dharma and ritual fitness, reducing impurity associated with skin afflictions.
