Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Affirms equal access to Śiva’s grace regardless of economic capacity; pilgrimage/temple worship is validated for all when grounded in bhakti.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that Śiva is pleased primarily by bhakti (devotional intent), not by the monetary value of offerings; therefore merit and grace are accessible equally to all, supporting a Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on inner purity and sincere surrender.
In liṅga-pūjā (Saguna worship), the external items may be simple—water, bilva leaves, a lamp—but when offered to Śiva with true intention, the spiritual result is the same regardless of social or economic status.
Perform simple Śiva-pūjā according to your means—offer water and bilva with the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” keeping the focus on devotion rather than expense.
