Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Enumerates core upacāras (pādya to mukhaśodhana) that structure temple and home worship; performing them with bhakti is held to purify the paśu and dispose it toward Śiva’s grace.
Offering: naivedya
It enumerates the standard upacāras (devotional services) that train the devotee in purity, humility, and loving attention—offering body, senses, and mind to Pati (Śiva), thereby loosening the bonds (pāśa) through bhakti.
These offerings are the classical sequence used in Linga-pūjā to honor Saguna Śiva as the accessible form of the Supreme; through such reverent service, the devotee approaches the Nirguna truth that the Linga signifies.
Perform a simple Shiva puja with these upacāras in order—especially dhūpa, dīpa, and naivedya—while maintaining one-pointed remembrance of Śiva and, where appropriate, mentally reciting the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
