Morning Purity & Bath Procedure
सोपवीतश्शिखां बद्धा प्रविश्य च जलांतरम् । अवगाह्य समाचांतो जले न्यस्येत्त्रिमंडलम्
sopavītaśśikhāṃ baddhā praviśya ca jalāṃtaram | avagāhya samācāṃto jale nyasyettrimaṃḍalam
Mang thánh tuyến (yajñopavīta) và buộc chỏm tóc (śikhā) cho ngay ngắn, người ấy bước xuống nước. Sau khi dìm mình tắm gội và tâm đã an tịnh, thanh khiết, người ấy đặt trong nước “ba vòng thiêng” (trimandala), để chuẩn bị theo nghi thứ mà phụng thờ Śiva.

Significance: Marks transition from mere cleansing to consecrated readiness: upavīta, śikhā-bandhana, immersion, and maṇḍala/nyāsa-like ordering—preparing the paśu for Śiva’s grace through correct vidhi.
It teaches that Śiva-worship begins with śauca (purity) and śānti (inner composure): disciplined preparation aligns the devotee (paśu) toward Pati, making the mind fit for mantra and worship.
By prescribing bathing, calmness, and a threefold ritual arrangement (trimaṇḍala), it frames Linga-pūjā as a structured approach to Saguna Śiva—using ordered rites to steady awareness and invite grace.
A preparatory water-bath (avagāha), followed by achieving composure (samācānta) and performing a placement/nyāsa of a threefold sacred arrangement (trimaṇḍala) as a prelude to Śaiva mantra and worship.
