Dakṣa’s Sacrificial Undertaking and the Devas’ Assembly without Īśvara

Dadhichi
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; it is a doctrinal pronouncement within the Dakṣa-yajña episode: omission of Rudra-ārādhana causes yajña-vighna (ritual failure).
Significance: Establishes Rudra as sarvadeveśvareśvara—pilgrimage and worship must include Śiva as the supreme Lord; otherwise merit is obstructed and turns into vighna.
Type: stotra
The verse teaches that spiritual acts become fruitless when performed without honoring Rudra as the supreme Pati; devotion and right orientation toward Shiva are essential for a rite to yield auspicious results.
It underscores that Saguna worship—such as honoring Shiva through the Linga with reverence—must not be omitted; neglecting Rudra in a major yajna symbolizes ignoring the very Lord who grants efficacy to all worship.
The takeaway is to include Rudra-upāsanā: sincere Shiva-puja with mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a devotional attitude, rather than relying only on external ritual performance.
