The Cause of Dakṣa’s Censure of Rudra

Cosmic Event: Vaivasvata-manvantara reference; ‘interval of Brahmā’s sacrifice’ as a liminal cosmic-ritual moment; manifestation in a Vāruṇī form (Varuṇa-associated).
It situates revered sages like Bhṛgu within a specific cosmic cycle (Vaivasvata Manvantara), reminding the seeker that even great lineages arise within Brahmā’s ritual order, while the Shaiva view points beyond cycles to the Supreme Pati (Śiva) as the enduring ground of liberation.
Though the verse is genealogical and ritual-contextual, it aligns with Saguna worship by showing how divine functions manifest through specific forms during yajñas; in Shiva Purana practice, such order culminates in turning the mind to Śiva’s Linga as the stable focus beyond changing cosmic intervals.
The verse emphasizes yajña and sacred time; a practical takeaway is to sanctify worship with disciplined ritual (nyāsa, mantra-japa) and steady meditation on Śiva—especially Panchākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—performed with purity and regularity.
