Phạm Thiên đáp: “Hỡi bậc thánh hiền cõi trời, hãy lắng nghe cho kỹ. Với niềm hoan hỷ, ta sẽ kể câu chuyện thiêng—câu chuyện diệt trừ cả đại tội và làm tăng trưởng lòng sùng kính Đức Śiva.”
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Significance: Śravaṇa of Śiva-kathā is presented as pāpa-kṣaya and bhakti-vṛddhi—pilgrimage-by-hearing (śravaṇa-tīrtha) even without physical travel.
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It proclaims śravaṇa (devout listening) to Śiva-kathā as a purifying sādhana: the narrative itself is described as a destroyer of great sins and a direct nourisher of Śiva-bhakti, aligning with the Shaiva emphasis on grace awakened through devotion.
By presenting Śiva-kathā as bhakti-enhancing, the verse supports Saguna upāsanā—devotional engagement with Lord Śiva’s forms and līlās (including Liṅga worship)—as a practical doorway to inner purification and, ultimately, realization of Śiva’s highest nature.
Attentive listening/recitation of Śiva Purāṇa (śravaṇa–kīrtana) with joy and reverence is implied; it can be paired with simple Śiva-bhakti supports such as japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” for steady devotional growth.
