Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Observance of Caturthī with Śiva-pūjā is presented as a means to obtain both laukika-sukha (worldly well-being) and, implicitly, Śiva’s prasāda (grace) that loosens pāśa (bondage).
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that worldly aims are best approached through disciplined devotion (bhakti) and scripturally guided worship (vidhi), which purifies the pashu (bound soul) and turns desire toward dharma and grace.
By prescribing timely, rule-based worship, it supports Saguna Shiva-upasana—approaching Shiva through form, rite, and devotion—commonly expressed through Linga-puja performed on auspicious tithis.
Observe Caturthī with vidhi-pūrvaka Shiva-puja: maintain purity, offer water and bilva leaves, recite Shiva mantras (such as the Panchakshara), and conclude with prayers dedicated to Shiva with steady devotion.
