Suta Goswami (narrating the prescribed modes of Shiva-worship to the sages)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Highlights bhakti expressed as kāyika-vācika-mānasika service: dāna (ethical purification), pradakṣiṇā (centeredness around Pati), and namaskāra (ego-surrender), all classically held to attract Śiva’s grace.
It teaches that Shiva is pleased by humble, complete devotion expressed through offering, charity, circumambulation, and heartfelt prostration—outer acts that embody inner surrender (bhakti) toward Pati, the Lord.
These are standard upacāras of Saguna worship—serving Shiva as accessible through the Liṅga (or a consecrated form), where offerings, pradakṣiṇā, and namaskāra become concrete expressions of devotion.
Perform Shiva-pūjā with offerings (such as tāmbūla), accompany it with dāna, do pradakṣiṇā around the Liṅga, and conclude with proper namaskāra; inwardly, maintain remembrance of Shiva (often supported by japa of the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”).
