The Description of Mohinī’s Love Episode
Narada (narrating/teaching within the Uttara-Bhaga dialogue tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shringara
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It highlights a core Purāṇic warning: repeated indulgence does not necessarily exhaust desire; instead, it can intensify capacity and attachment, deepening moha (delusion) and bondage.
By showing how constant ‘sevanā’ (resorting to) sense-enjoyment strengthens kāma, the verse indirectly teaches that the same principle applies positively in bhakti—constant service directed to Bhagavān (especially Viṣṇu) strengthens devotion rather than worldly craving.
A practical jyotiṣa-style analogy is used: the moon’s waxing in the śukla-pakṣa illustrates increase through repetition, serving as a didactic model rather than a ritual instruction.
