Go-dāna-stuti and Ghṛta-Japa
Praise of cow-gift and ghee-centered recitation
नाम संकीर्तयेत् तस्या यथासंख्योत्तरं स वै । “जो गौके निष्क्रयरूपसे उसका मूल्य
nāma saṅkīrtayet tasyā yathāsaṅkhyottaraṃ sa vai |
Bhīṣma nói: “Người ấy phải xướng đúng danh xưng đã định cho (lễ vật thay thế trong bố thí bò), theo thứ tự như đã nêu.” Trong mạch văn này, lời dạy nhằm bảo đảm tính đúng pháp: dù không dâng bò thật mà dâng giá chuộc của bò (tiền), hoặc vải, hoặc vàng thay cho bò, thì vào lúc phát nguyện (saṅkalpa) người hiến vẫn phải gọi lễ vật ấy bằng “tên của bò” tương ứng, để hành vi ấy được xem là go-dāna đúng về ý và đúng về nghi thức.
