गुरुकर्मप्रशंसी तु सो5पि स्वर्गे महीयते । जो वेदोंका अध्ययन करके न्यायपरायण शिष्योंको विद्यादान करता है तथा गुरुके कर्मोकी प्रशंसा करनेवाला है, वह भी स्वर्गलोकमें प्रतिष्ठित होता है ।।
bhīṣma uvāca | gurukarma-praśaṁsī tu so 'pi svarge mahīyate | kṣatriyo 'dhyayane yukto yajane dāna-karmaṇi | yuddhe yaś ca paritrātā so 'pi svarge mahīyate ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Ngay cả người ca ngợi công hạnh của bậc thầy cũng được tôn vinh nơi thiên giới. Cũng vậy, một kṣatriya chuyên cần học tập, siêng năng tế tự và bố thí, và trong chiến trận biết che chở người khác, cũng được kính trọng ở cõi trời. Lời dạy nhấn mạnh rằng thiên giới không chỉ do học hành và nghi lễ riêng mình, mà còn do tôn kính thầy và dùng sức mạnh võ lực như tấm khiên bảo hộ kẻ khác, chứ không phải để hiếu chiến.”
