Daiva–Puruṣakāra Inquiry: Fate and Human Effort
व्ययगुणमपि साधु कर्मणा संश्रयन्ते भवति मनुजलोकाद् देवलोको विशिष्ट: । बहुतरसुसमृद्ध्या मानुषाणां गृहाणि पितृवनभवनाभं दृश्यते चामराणाम्
vyayaguṇam api sādhu karmaṇā saṃśrayante bhavati manujalokād devaloko viśiṣṭaḥ | bahutarasusamṛddhyā mānuṣāṇāṃ gṛhāṇi pitṛvanabhavanābhaṃ dṛśyate cāmarāṇām ||
Bhishma nói: “Dẫu người thiện trở nên nghèo vì bố thí, chư thiên vẫn tìm đến nương tựa nơi người ấy bởi công hạnh chân chính. Vì vậy, nhà của người ấy—so với cõi người—tựa như một cõi trời cao hơn. Nhưng nơi nào không có bố thí, thì dù nhà ấy tràn đầy phú quý, trong mắt chư thiên cũng chẳng hơn gì bãi hỏa táng.”
