Dāyavibhāga (Inheritance Apportionment) and Household Precedence — Dialogue of Yudhiṣṭhira and Bhīṣma
देवदत्तां पतिर्भा्या वेत्ति धर्मस्य शासनात् । स दैवीं मानुषी वाचमनृतां पर्युदस्यति
devadattāṁ patir bhāryāṁ vetti dharmasya śāsanāt | sa daivīṁ mānuṣīṁ vācam anṛtāṁ paryudasyati ||
Bhishma nói: “Tuân theo các điều khoản của dharma, người chồng thừa nhận làm vợ mình người phụ nữ đã đến với mình một cách hợp pháp, như phần định đoạt của trời. Vì thế, ông tiếp nhận nàng như món ban của số mệnh và gạt bỏ là giả dối những lời đàm tiếu của người đời, những lời cho rằng cuộc hôn phối ấy là không thích đáng.”
