वदन्त्यग्निं महादेवं तथा स्थाणु महेश्वरम् । एकाक्ष॑ त्रयम्बकं॑ चैव विश्वरूपं शिवं तथा
vadanty agniṃ mahādevaṃ tathā sthāṇuṃ maheśvaram | ekākṣaṃ tryambakaṃ caiva viśvarūpaṃ śivaṃ tathā ||
Thần Vāyu nói: Bậc trí gọi Đại Thần bằng nhiều danh xưng—Agni, Mahādeva, Sthāṇu, Maheśvara, Ekākṣa, Tryambaka, Viśvarūpa và Śiva.
वायुदेव उवाच
That the supreme Lord is one, yet is legitimately praised and approached through many names that highlight different attributes—cosmic power (Viśvarūpa), auspiciousness (Śiva), lordship (Maheśvara), steadfastness (Sthāṇu), and iconic marks (Tryambaka).
Vāyu is describing how learned people refer to Mahādeva by multiple epithets, effectively listing recognized names of Śiva to establish his greatness and the validity of diverse modes of worship and description.
