वृथादारान् न गच्छन्ति वृथामांसं न भुञ्जते । दीप्तमन्निं जुह्बते च गुरूणां वचने स्थिता:
vṛthādārān na gacchanti vṛthāmāṁsaṁ na bhuñjate | dīptam agniṁ juhvate ca gurūṇāṁ vacane sthitāḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Họ không giao hợp với phụ nữ ngoài hôn phối chính đáng; họ không ăn thịt, vì cho là vô ích; họ dâng lễ vật (homa) vào ngọn lửa thiêng đang rực cháy; và họ kiên định vâng theo lời dạy và mệnh lệnh của bậc trưởng thượng cùng thầy tổ.”
