स च तैव्यथित: शक्रो वसिष्ठं शरणं ययौ । ततो<5भयं ददौ तेभ्यो वसिष्ठो भगवानृषि:
sa ca tair vyathitaḥ śakro vasiṣṭhaṃ śaraṇaṃ yayau | tato 'bhayaṃ dadau tebhyo vasiṣṭho bhagavān ṛṣiḥ |
Bhishma nói: Indra (Śakra), bị bọn Daitya ấy làm cho khốn đốn, liền đến nương tựa nơi Vasiṣṭha. Bấy giờ, bậc thánh hiền Vasiṣṭha ban cho họ sự “vô úy” (không sợ hãi)—dùng uy lực tinh thần và công phu khổ hạnh (tapas) để che chở chư thần đang lâm nạn—cho thấy an ổn chân thật phát sinh từ dharma và sức mạnh của tapas, chứ không chỉ từ bạo lực.
