अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
यानि च प्रथितान्यादौ तण्डिराख्यातवान् मम । नामानि मानवश्रेष्ठ तानि त्वं शृणु सिद्धये
yāni ca prathitāny ādau taṇḍir ākhyātavān mama | nāmāni mānavaśreṣṭha tāni tvaṃ śṛṇu siddhaye ||
Vāyu nói: “Hỡi bậc nhất trong loài người, hãy lắng nghe để được thành tựu những danh xưng đã lừng danh từ thuở ban sơ—những danh xưng mà hiền giả Taṇḍi từng kể lại cho ta. Người ta nói rằng nghe chúng sẽ ban cho thành tựu tâm linh.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse emphasizes the power of revered, anciently transmitted sacred names: listening to them with faith and attention is presented as a means toward siddhi—spiritual accomplishment and inner purification—grounded in authoritative tradition.
Vāyu addresses a human interlocutor (‘best of men’) and introduces a set of celebrated names that the sage Taṇḍi previously narrated to him, inviting the listener to hear them for the sake of attaining success.
