भीष्म उवाच
Focused listening and receptivity to sacred instruction are presented as prerequisites for spiritual efficacy; the verse highlights a divinely instituted mantra (linked with Savitri) as a means of immediate purification from sin, emphasizing inner attention (ekamanāḥ) and the purificatory power of mantra within dharma.
In the Anushasana Parva’s didactic setting, Bhishma addresses the king (Yudhishthira) and introduces a specific mantra, stating its authoritative source (Vyasa) and its divine origin (Savitri), while promising its immediate power to remove sin.
