yogo jñānaṃ tathā sāṅkhyaṃ vidyā śilpādi karma ca | vedāḥ śāstrāṇi vijñānam etat sarvaṃ janārdanāt ||
Bhīṣma nói: Yoga, tri thức tâm linh, Sāṅkhya, các ngành học khác nhau, nghề thủ công và mọi hình thức lao động, các Veda, các luận thư, cùng sự hiểu biết khoa học—tất cả đều phát sinh từ Janārdana (Viṣṇu).
भीष्म उवाच
All major paths of discipline and understanding—yoga, jñāna, Sāṅkhya, learning, crafts, work, the Vedas, śāstras, and vijñāna—are presented as originating from Janārdana (Viṣṇu). The ethical implication is that knowledge and skill should be pursued with humility and used in alignment with dharma, recognizing a higher source and purpose.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma continues his instruction to Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and right conduct. Here he emphasizes a theistic foundation for human knowledge-systems, situating diverse disciplines within devotion to and dependence upon Viṣṇu as the ultimate origin.
