धर्मार्थी प्राप्तुयाद् धर्ममर्थार्थी चार्थमाप्रुयात् । कामानवाष्लुयात् कामी प्रजार्थी प्राप्तुयात् प्रजाम्ू
dharmārthī prāpnuyād dharmam arthārthī cārtham āpnuyāt | kāmān avāpnuyāt kāmī prajārthī prāpnuyāt prajām ||
Bhīṣma nói: Người cầu dharma thì đạt dharma; người cầu tài phú thì đạt tài phú. Người cầu khoái lạc thì đạt khoái lạc; và người cầu con cái thì được con cái. Lời dạy ấy nhấn mạnh rằng mục tiêu đã chọn cùng sự nỗ lực bền bỉ sẽ định hình quả báo nhận được; vì vậy hãy chủ ý đặt mục tiêu tối thượng vào điều thật sự đáng giá.
