पिण्डदास्तस्य हीयन्ते न च प्रीणाति वै पितृन्‌ । धर्मने कहा--ब्राह्मण यदि राजाका कर्मचारी हो

Transliteration

piṇḍadās tasya hīyante na ca prīṇāti vai pitṝn |

Translation

Dharma nói: Công đức của người dâng các viên cơm cúng (piṇḍa) cho những kẻ không xứng đáng sẽ suy giảm, và tổ tiên cũng không thật sự được thỏa mãn. Ý nghĩa đạo lý là: lễ vật dành cho thần linh (yajña) và cho tổ tiên (śrāddha) phải được trao với sự phân biệt sáng suốt; bố thí sai chỗ làm tổn hại phúc phần của người cho và không hoàn thành nghi lễ như dự định.
