Educational Q&A

Ethical and spiritual progress is supported by a combination of dāna (generous giving), tapas (austerity), and niyama (disciplined observances); these practices collectively build merit and inner refinement.

Bhīṣma continues an instruction on dharma, describing how a person (previously mentioned in the surrounding verses) attains growth or higher standing through varied acts of charity, austerities, and regulated vows.
