FAQs

By calling Īśāna “the Divinity even of the gods,” the verse points to a highest Lord beyond all celestial ranks—an ultimate reality whose worship yields true siddhi, implying supremacy over all limited powers.

The verse emphasizes ārādhana (devotional propitiation) as a direct sādhana: disciplined worship directed to the supreme Īśāna, consistent with Purāṇic Pāśupata-oriented practice where devotion, mantra, and reverent observance culminate in siddhi.

Using Īśāna as the supreme “deity of the gods” aligns with the Kurma Purana’s synthetic theology: the highest Lord is praised in a way that supports Śaiva supremacy-language while remaining compatible with Vaiṣṇava narration, stressing one supreme Īśvara revered through different names.
