प्रियव्रत उवाच । अन्यस्मिन् भगवन् जन्मन्यासीत् यत् तद् विचेष्टितम् । सर्वं कथय देवर्षे महत् कौतूहलं हि मे ॥ ३.१ ॥

پریہ ورت نے کہا: اے بھگون! دوسرے جنم میں جو طرزِ عمل/واقعات ہوئے تھے وہ سب بیان کیجیے۔ اے دیورشی! میرے دل میں بڑا تجسّس پیدا ہوا ہے۔
