ahamindraḥ kathaṃ caiṣā nopatiṣṭhati cālasā | sarvāndevānhaniṣyāmi lapsye nāhaṃ śacīṃ yadi
“میں اندر ہوں—یہ گستاخ عورت سستی سے میری خدمت میں کیوں حاضر نہیں ہوتی؟ اگر میں شچی کو نہ پاؤں تو میں سب دیوتاؤں کو قتل کر دوں گا!”
Indra
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣis/pilgrims
Scene: Nahūṣa (speaking as ‘I am Indra’) erupts in arrogant fury, threatening cosmic violence if Śacī is not obtained; devas recoil; Śacī’s absence is felt as a moral boundary.
Unchecked pride and craving even in the powerful leads to threats against cosmic order; dharma requires self-mastery.
The narrative is embedded in the Prabhāsa-kṣetra māhātmya, presenting moral exempla within the sacred geography of Prabhāsa.
None; the verse is a character statement revealing Indra’s arrogance.
