rājovāca | evaṃ deva kariṣyāmi gatvā'yodhyāṃ mahāpurīm | putraṃ rājye pratiṣṭhāpya maṃtriṇāṃ saṃnivedya ca
Rājā (the King)
Tirtha: Ayodhyā
Type: kshetra
Scene: The king, composed and resolute, declares he will go to Ayodhyā, enthrone his son, and notify ministers—an image of calm governance at the edge of existential change.
Even when pursuing a sacred end, a ruler must first fulfill rājadharma—orderly succession and responsible governance.
The broader chapter glorifies Devīkuṇḍa; this verse additionally names Ayodhyā as the king’s royal seat.
No ritual; it prescribes a dharmic procedure—installing the heir and notifying ministers.
