vilayaṃ naya pāpāni pippala tvaṃ haripriya | maṃtreṇānena ye devāḥ pūjayiṣyaṃti pippalam
Skanda (deduced; mantra instruction within narration)
Tirtha: Pippala (Hari-priya)
Type: kshetra
Scene: A devotee with folded hands recites a mantra to the pippala; the words appear as a luminous garland encircling the trunk; dark stains symbolizing sins dissolve into the earth.
Sacred speech (mantra) sanctifies worship; addressing the pippala as Hari’s beloved frames the tree as a Viṣṇu-associated conduit of purification.
The pippala itself is presented as a sacred focus of worship within the tīrtha-māhātmya framework.
A specific prayer-mantra is supplied for pippala-pūjā: “vilayaṃ naya pāpāni… haripriya.”
