sūta uvāca | tathānyo'pi ca tatrāsti devaḥ putraprado nṛṇām | vaṭikeśvara nāmā ca sarvapāpaharo haraḥ
Sūta
Tirtha: Vāṭikeśvara
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and the Naimiṣāraṇya sages
Scene: A banyan-grove shrine with a Śiva-liṅga named Vāṭikeśvara; couples and pilgrims offer bilva leaves and lamps; Sūta narrates to seated sages in the foreground frame.
The tīrtha landscape is mapped as a network of grace: specific Śiva-liṅgas are praised for concrete boons and deep moral purification.
The Vāṭikeśvara shrine located ‘there’ in the same sacred region being described (Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra context).
No detailed rite is specified here; the verse introduces Vāṭikeśvara as a boon-giving and sin-destroying form of Śiva.
